Dance on the ocean floor

The newest Per AQUUM's resort in the Maldives is offering something truly new and exciting - Edge, the overwater restaurant and Subsix, the world's first underwater music club. Located at Niyama, these two jewelles of the Maldives are only accessible by boat, yet very worth the trip. The celebration of the opening of Subsix is bringing together global superstars like Tinie Tempah and Poet Name Life together, to host exclusive performances this October 2012.

Access to Subsix is via a staircase from Edge taking guests six metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean to a breath-taking underwater world. Guests will find themselves in an intimate music club with floor to ceiling windows surrounding three sides of the structure. A bar and DJ consul can be found along the back wall while seating is spaced throughout allowing unobstructed views of clown fish, manta rays, parrot fish and other exotic marine life.

Not to be overshadowed by Subsix, Edge, the over water restaurant is helmed by Chef de Cuisine Arron Rhodes who brings modern day cuisine to our shores. By experimenting with flavours, textures and memory, it is an educational experience. Signature dishes that guests can look forward to include, the slowly cooked Indian Ocean Cuttlefish with avocado, piccalilli, apple and ink krupuk, a succulent dish infused with sensational flavours from around the region or the thinly sliced Maldivian reef fish gravalax, mouth-wateringly updated with an accompaniment of tamarind cream, bulgur wheat, curry bubbles and mung sprouts.
In addition to the restaurant, guests can enjoy a drink at Edge Bar. Perched over water and offering incredible sunset views, this is the perfect location for pre-dinner drinks or an after-dinner digestif.

Yoga in paradise

Internationally renowned yoga expert Maya Fiennes is taking her talents to the soothing setting of One&Only Reethi Rah to create an exclusive yoga sanctuary from 3 - 10 March 2012, where she will treat guests to a full mind, body and soul workout.

Dubbed the Nigella of relaxation, the TV yoga guru will be teaching participants the art of Kundalini Yoga and how to achieve real happiness.  Based on the concept of clearing and balancing the chakras, the seven power centres of the body, Maya’s tailored yoga retreat offers the opportunity to expand sensory awareness and cultivate creative spiritual potential through an understanding of yogic breathing, mantras, meditation and movement.

Maya will personally guide guests through the daily yoga programme aimed to encourage physical, emotional and spiritual relaxation. Through her knowledge of yoga and music, Maya’s week long workshop promises to be a magically uplifting break and leave participants with a refreshed perspective on everyday life.  This exclusive yoga retreat includes a healthy meal plan to ensure total wellbeing.

A seven night break a One&Only Reethi Rah on Maya Fiennes’ exclusive yoga retreat costs £8,400 based on two people sharing a Beach Villa*. Return flights from London Heathrow with Etihad Airways start from £729.
