Opera Gallery exhibits Mauro Corda

From November 14th until December 16th, The Opera Gallery presents the UK premier of the new works of Mauro Corda, in an exhibition curated by Jean-David Malat.

A contemporary mind with the spirit of the ancients, Corda has combined these qualities to form his fascinating unveiling of human beings and animals alike.

As a sculptor, Corda incorporates colours such as chrome silver, gilding and paint into his bronze art forms. In search of greater dimensions, his sculptures have moved on to other materials, such as aluminium and iron. Influenced by his time in the Italian Pietrasanta, he has also introduced marble and terra cotta into his work. His incredible command over the materials develops them into profound pieces of art. Some may say his sculptures are so unsettling; it is hard to look away.
His shifting of materials lead back to his vision to portray persons in the most diverse roles, environments, and situations.

134 New Bond Street, Monday to Saturday 10am -7pm. Sunday 12-5pm. Free admitance.

Bruce Munro Exhibition at Holburne Museum in Bath

Lighting artist Bruce Munro will unveil a large Field of Light installation at the Holburne Museum, Bath in November this year. He first created a Field of Light at the Brilliant! exhibition at the V&A Museum in London in 2004, and went on to create other versions including a 10-acre display at Long Knoll Field in Wiltshire. Field of Light has not been seen in public since it gained international renown at the Eden Project in Cornwall in 2008/2009.

Munro’s new Field of Light will open to the public on Saturday November 26th and remain in place until 8th January 2012. During this period, a frenzy of Christmas shopping, the Bath Christmas Market (24th November-11 December) and the many plays and pantomimes at Theatre Royal make Bath into a whirl of colour and activity. Field of Light at the Holburne will provide a little extra magic, and perhaps a moment of calm reflection.
