Dine with HRH Prince Charles ... for a good cause
The Prince of Wales to attend annual Prince’s Trust Invest in Futures Gala Dinner supported by
Bank of America Merrill Lynch
HRH The Prince of Wales will join Michael McIntyre, Jools Holland, Alison Moyet and Lulu to raise funds for The Prince’s Trust on 23rd February, at one of the most important events in the youth charity’s calendar.
The annual Invest in Futures Gala Dinner, supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will encourage the financial community to show its support for more than a million young people struggling with record-breaking levels of youth unemployment.
Hosted by comedian Michael McIntyre and with entertainment provided by Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, the Invest in Futures Gala Dinner is attended by hedge fund leaders and global financers from across the globe and unites the financial services industry to invest in disadvantaged young people, helping them become economically active.
Held annually at a central London location, the exclusive dinner and auction have helped to raise £12.5m for the youth charity since 2005, giving tens of thousands of disadvantaged young people the skills, confidence and motivation to move into work. The 2012 event will raise vital funds for The Trust’s work at a time when youth unemployment is at its highest level since records began in 1992.
Raising £1m, last year’s Invest in Futures Gala Dinner at the capital’s Natural History Museum was attended by Prince’s Trust supporters Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, Joan Collins and Kate Adie. Guests enjoyed an evening of first-class entertainment provided by soul legend Dionne Warwick and the fundraiser’s host, Clive Anderson.
Julian Barrell, Director of Fundraising at The Prince’s Trust, said: “With more than a million 16-to-24-year-olds out of work, it is critical to ensure that every young person, no matter what their background, is provided with the support they need and deserve to find a job. The support of the financial community at one of the most important fundraisers in The Prince’s Trust calendar is vital to help us raise the funds we need to change 50,000 young lives this year.”
Jonathan Moulds, President Europe, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and CEO of Merrill Lynch International added: “By investing time, resources and skills into the education of today’s youth, we are helping young people to become prepared and skilled for gainful employment. At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, we take our community commitment very seriously. Education is a priority for thriving economies and we have a range of projects that invest in young people, including our successful Financial Education & Employability programme which is supported by over 300 bank volunteers and reaches over 2,000 students each year.
We are pleased to support The Prince’s Trust Invest in Futures Gala Dinner. We strongly believe that in today’s employment market, it is more important than ever to balance young people’s education with business acumen and financial literacy – education is a necessity for building a better future.”

Kitchen chemistry
Nothing
says romance like a lavish candlelit dinner on Valentine’s Day, and even more
so when one’s sweetheart is surprised with a home-cooked gourmet meal prepared
with love, and served in one’s own home.
The Stafford London by
Kempinski offers lovebirds a little help in the kitchen this year
with an exclusive Valentine's Day Cookery Class, held in the kitchens of the
hotel’s new Lyttelton restaurant
on Sunday, February 12, 2012. Led by Executive Chef Brendan
Fyldes, it’s an intimate experience for just eight participants,
allowing for hands-on learning in a warm and engaging atmosphere.
“Whether
planning a special surprise for your spouse or looking for a way to wow someone
new, Chef Fyldes will guide participants through a four-course menu that is
sure to inspire a memorable evening,” says Leon Baum, General
Manager of The Stafford. “Couples are
also invited to join in the fun.”
The
class runs from 8:30 to 11:30 am, followed by canapés and a glass of Champagne
in the Hotel’s famous American Bar before
luncheon at The Lyttelton, where Master Sommelier Gino
Nardella will personally select the wine pairings. Afterwards, participants leave with a gift
bag that includes a Kempinski cookery book, an apron adorned with The Lyttelton
logo, homemade chutneys and biscuits, and a solid plan for a fabulous
home-cooked Valentine’s Day dinner à deux.
The
class costs £220.00 per person including three-hour hands on cookery lesson,
Champagne, canapés and lunch with wines at The Lyttelton, and gift bag. Advance registration is a must due to limited

Best Luxury Cruiser award goes to...
The new Oyster 625 has been honoured with the prestigious title of 'Best Luxury Cruiser' in the 2012 European Yacht of the Year awards.
The announcement was made during the awards ceremony on the first day of the Düsseldorf Boat Show, where the Oyster 625, the largest completed sailboat at the show, is currently on display.
The winner is selected by a jury of journalists from eleven major European magazines in the marine industry. After exhaustive evaluation and testing and assessment of all the criteria of the nominated yachts, this spectacular Rob Humphreys designed Oyster 625 was voted number one in the best Luxury Cruiser category, beating some stiff competition to take the esteemed accolade.
Commenting on the award, Oyster CEO, David Tydeman said, "The Oyster 625 gives another dimension to the Oyster fleet and has been a winner with our owners since her launch. The next available yacht for this popular model is now Hull #12 and this huge achievement will no doubt bring new interest. Being nominated in the first place is a compliment and it's an honour to have won this title. I'd like to thank Rob Humphreys, the teams at Oyster and Southampton Yacht Services, but most of all the eleven owners who have already placed orders for this fantastic yacht."
The yacht tests for the European Yacht of the Year were carried out in Ijmuiden in some very unseasonable September weather, with winds gusting 50 knots.
