Gold Leaf lands in London

From the streets of London and bursting with individuality, comes Gold Leaf. The exclusive Made in GB fashion label exudes an authentic youthfulness that most designers spend years attempting to create. The brand came to life in the spring of 2011 with the ambitious vision of two determined students wishing to enter the world of high fashion.

The elegant complements of vintage luxury and the beauty of Mother Nature are the inspiration to the design team at Gold Leaf. After turning heads within the industry, Gold Leaf have been invited to showcase their designs under the spotlight of the final show in the series of Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model later this month to an audience of over 5 million on SKY 1. This privilege is reserved only for the best and is being directed by former fashion editor of Vogue UK and founder of Elle UK, Harriet Jagger.

With such an innovative team, Gold Leaf has ventured into new territories as sponsors and suppliers to the GB Telemark Ski Team and British racing talent, Melville McKee. With an interest in supporting young talent and building their brand, Gold Leaf will be producing 10 limited edition snow sport designs and a motorsport inspired design that are all made especially for these sportsmen and women. Door after door is being opened for these versatile designers and entrepreneurs and with a prestigious Scandinavian yacht maker as the latest corporation to identify the charm and flair of Gold Leaf, the label is already becoming international. Their first order has been placed by an exclusive designer boutique in Bahrain and Gold Leaf will soon be touching down in the fashion capitals of the world; Paris, New York and Shanghai for fashion shoots later this year.

Floating from an understated tree of style and sophistication, a Gold Leaf has well and truly landed!

Opera Gallery exhibits Mauro Corda

From November 14th until December 16th, The Opera Gallery presents the UK premier of the new works of Mauro Corda, in an exhibition curated by Jean-David Malat.

A contemporary mind with the spirit of the ancients, Corda has combined these qualities to form his fascinating unveiling of human beings and animals alike.

As a sculptor, Corda incorporates colours such as chrome silver, gilding and paint into his bronze art forms. In search of greater dimensions, his sculptures have moved on to other materials, such as aluminium and iron. Influenced by his time in the Italian Pietrasanta, he has also introduced marble and terra cotta into his work. His incredible command over the materials develops them into profound pieces of art. Some may say his sculptures are so unsettling; it is hard to look away.
His shifting of materials lead back to his vision to portray persons in the most diverse roles, environments, and situations.

134 New Bond Street, Monday to Saturday 10am -7pm. Sunday 12-5pm. Free admitance.

Bruce Munro Exhibition at Holburne Museum in Bath

Lighting artist Bruce Munro will unveil a large Field of Light installation at the Holburne Museum, Bath in November this year. He first created a Field of Light at the Brilliant! exhibition at the V&A Museum in London in 2004, and went on to create other versions including a 10-acre display at Long Knoll Field in Wiltshire. Field of Light has not been seen in public since it gained international renown at the Eden Project in Cornwall in 2008/2009.

Munro’s new Field of Light will open to the public on Saturday November 26th and remain in place until 8th January 2012. During this period, a frenzy of Christmas shopping, the Bath Christmas Market (24th November-11 December) and the many plays and pantomimes at Theatre Royal make Bath into a whirl of colour and activity. Field of Light at the Holburne will provide a little extra magic, and perhaps a moment of calm reflection.
