Pablo Picasso's 'Femme Assise' sells at auction

Pablo Picasso's 'Femme Assise,' which depicted the Spaniards lover Francoise Gilot whilst pregnant with his daughter Paloma, has sold at Christies Auction house for over £8 million pounds.
The painting was in the collection of steel magnate Leigh B. Block, and the works were the highest amount gained at the auction.
Gilot was 21 years of age when she met the Spanish master, 61, in a restaurant in the Spring of 1943. The couple never married but had two children together. Their son, Claude, was born in 1947 whilst Paloma was born two years later.
